Visit Summary:
PS 061 is a well run elementary school. The school had received a B rating and the principal is currently concentrating on raising students’ scores and the overall rating for the school. She is very interested in technology and is hoping to be able to attend an iLead institute if such becomes available again. All teachers including para’s have an email account and the principal communicates with her staff via email. The school has a website (looking to put it on DOE portal), electronic report cards were created by the tech person. Currently due to testing project based learning has been put on the back burner. Mr. Roeung will start working with students on projects around Feb-March. Students mainly use technology in the computer lab that is run by Mr. Chamroeun Roeung. In addition there are 6 mobile multimedia carts that teachers use to show educational videos on various subjects (pre-loaded) and other applications. There are no laptop carts for students and most classes have 2 computers in the room. During our meeting we explored our offerings, Protraxx and discussed possible onsite PD. The principal is interested in Google application and Wiki for curriculum planning. She might send someone to our curriculum planning workshop but would also like an onsite one around the month of February. Mr. Chamroeun Roeung registered for our January 17th iCoach meeting. Goal:

Visit Summary: Spoke briefly with the principal. Met with Del Moor Marian who is the technology lead person in the building and the computer/technology teacher. I have introduced OITlive to her, iCoach offerings, Protraxx, she registered for our liaison meeting. The school might be getting a Smartboard and she is interested in Smartboard training. We looked at our offerings. We discussed the possibility of an onsite PD. She will further discuss it with her principal.
The school has 1 lab with 2 PC stations and 27 laptops. Teachers have 2 Dell in their room but don’t use it as much. The science teacher runs a Robotics program. There is a schedule for the lab, not all classes come in.
